Brian Tracy is one of North America’s most popular and influential motivational speakers. It is estimated that he has made more than 5,000 presentations reaching as many as 5 million people. Tracy has authored over 70 books and his fields of knowledge span economics, philosophy, history, and psychology. Brian Tracy is a native of Canada, born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1944. One of four brothers, his family struggled financially as his father was not always able to find work. Even when employed, the pay was often insufficient for the family’s needs. The children often got their clothing through charity shops and donations.
Even at a young age, Tracy observed the world around him and wondered why others seemed not be struggling in the same way as his family. Clearly an intelligent student, he got in much trouble in school by misbehaving. He was suspended and even expelled.
Unable to stay in school, he drifted from one menial job to another. It wasn’t until he had a self-awakening while working a construction job that things would turn around for him. It began with a new perception that only he was responsible for his own life.
Tracy acquired a job in sales and immersed himself in reading about the methods of successful salespeople and of talking with as many as possible. So focused was the young man that he became the top sales manager at the company.
Brian Tracy went from the mischievous boy to a man who created his own method of attaining confidence and success. His first presentation, in 1981, went on to be The Psychology of Achievement, a best-selling audio tape. Tracy continued to educate himself in all areas, reading as much as 50 hours a week.
With the creation of his own company and a constant presence as a motivational speaker for major corporations and the public, Brian Tracy has sent many on a path of achievement and success.
