Charles Swindoll is a Christian Evangelical pastor, whose Insight for Living radio program now airs on over 2,000 Christian and non-Christian stations worldwide and is broadcast in 15 languages. He has produced more than 70 books and other publications. Recognition of both his broadcasting achievements and his theological studies have resulted in a “Hall of Fame Award” from the National Religious Broadcasters, and in four Honorary Doctorate degrees.
Charles Swindoll was born in El Campo, Texas. He was challenged by having a severe stutter, and credits his drama teacher at a Houston high school with helping him overcome this. High school also saw his musical talent flourish, as he learned to play all the different woodwind instruments.
Swindoll sensed the calling to the ministry of the Gospel. Upon completion of his military service in 1959, he entered Dallas Theological Seminary from which he would graduate magna cum laude.
Swindoll often goes by his nickname “Chuck.” In addition to his radio ministry, which operates out of Plano, Texas, he is founder and pastor of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas. Along with his wife, Cynthia, Chuck Swindoll has emphasized God’s grace and a practical application of the Bible as the cornerstones in the lives of those he ministers to. Stonebriar Community Church remains his home congregation, but his ministry extends to many listeners and readers all over the globe.
